Amen to ending it! However, when a murderer is bearing down on you and already killed your family, I doubt you are looking to negotiate if you have weapons. Most of the time, the skilled guy with the spear wins against the bear or we wouldn't be here. Negotiation is only possible through strength, otherwise it's called surrender. It also requires good faith and sanity on the other side.
