As a long time Apple developer I can say these two companies couldn't be more different in basic philosophy, especially around privacy. At Apple, privacy is practically a religion and so they encrypt user data in ways even they can't crack without your password. The main reason for this could change but essentially, unlike Google, their monetization does not come from selling user data and tracking, it comes from selling devices, accessories, content and software. We should all pray Apple stays ethical into the future because God knows, they could extract more about everybody than anyone, including sensitive medical information, your texts, your browsing, location and much more.
