Cars are grotesquely overused and filthy in their present form. However, transport is a universal principle in all lifeforms whether its blood cell "cars" delivering oxygen to you cells or birds taking free rides on updrafts and us humans are more complicated creatures who organize differently, requiring some transport.
I envision what I call Decentralized Mass Transit that uses solar powered, on-demand, AI-controlled vehicles that would be coupled with much better urban planning where neighborhoods provided much more locally instead of having to go afar and of, course, efficient traditional mass transit. But you will still have that cousin who opened up a restaurant in the next town over and you will want to visit them. And elderly and disabled will need to visit a specialist and on and on so we can not as humans do away with transport so must instead evolve it to be more in accordance with Nature.
I recently wrote more on the topic of decentralized mass transit. Your basic premise is correct, as currently implemented, untenable and unsustainable and ridiculous and greedy. Thank you!
