Hi, Colby. I tend to agree with you (and Stephen Hawking) about space as an outlet to hedge our bets but I have come to the conclusion the same malfeasance would likely catch up to us at least in the immediate future. Imagine living in a space town built from the Asteroid Belt and getting a message that the Earth had become uninhabitable due to a nuclear or nanotechnology event. Cut off from the Mothership I have little confidence these pioneers could survive for too long. Or, because these space structures would be so vulnerable, they too could be victims of warfare or sabotage unless we change our mentality. Perhaps if we built a self-sustaining space city that was large enough or several of them, we could breathe easier.
