I agree it has merit as a tool for artists. However, it also has its own mediocrity problem and is trained with plenty of mediocre art as well. Also, it still tends to all have the same “AI aesthetic” so these paint-by-number, coloring book artisans will be spending a lot of time to create similar works which seems a bit frivolous. I’m sure automated systems could execute brush strokes at some point too. It’s all fine with me but it will take more to impress the “Art World” and get people bidding big bucks at Christie’s for AI assisted paintings. No doubt in the works.
