I think folks who watched enough Star Trek and sci fi probably had the same predictions since they had AI running stuff (2001 Space Odyssey, Data) and weren't exactly running the Enterprise on diesel fuel. However, what we have is closer to Dystopia than Utopia because of rampant greed and lust for power.
