If the Universe has ANY living thing, then the whole thing must be alive because that living thing represents the Body of the Universe and is not separate from it which would be absurd. If on the other hand the Universe is dead, then nothing is alive because it would be absurd for life to arise from something dead though that is the modern belief. So it's not a stretch to posit that the Universe is indeed alive in ways we don't even understand, especially if the Universe is Eternal in which case the probability of life is 100% because no possible Reality would be precluded over an eternal time frame. The question becomes can the Universe die?
