It probably depends on what level of Reality you wish to dwell upon or how much abstraction you can accept as relevant. For example, in the biological realm, if you cut yourself badly, you could bleed out and all your "life information" could be lost and irretrievable but your cells can decompose add information to new life by recomposing elsewhere.
