No offense taken other than the intellectual insult that the medium makes the artist, and what’s more the more automated and out of comprehension the medium, the more mysterious the powers of the new artists who use them.
What if I thought that randomly generated poems, AI driven of course, produced way more interesting results than the regular guy typing in his most fascinating prompts? Who’s the great artist then? Why even bother if you are not the programmer? They are the artist and the tool is a meta tool, not a direct tool controlled by the mind like Dali would do with a brush or pencil. It’s like you are getting all excited that you hit a play button on stage and sat on your ass while an mp3 played or a cool music generator you didn’t write nor understand made up some music and the crowd all had the same button on their phones so laughed you off the stage.
You are talking about an app. All AI art is created by an app., Application. Did you write the app? Did you use open source code? See, you’re not even the author of the generative code. Your and end user of an app with the exact skills as a million others. Are you the Salvador Dali of AI art? How come nobody thinks so? Who’s impressed? You? Let your friend type a prompt with you and see who’s the best “artist” then yawn with boredom after a few hours. Remove the actual art from the machine learning model and it all collapses to nonsense like the library of Babel. This really cracks me up that you think AI is a medium. It’s like saying my medium is Picasso. I create artificial art with some dude’s program that imitates Picasso. Check out my exhibit in this Metaverse museum that has 50 AI generated random avatar people clapping and they actually looked cooler than my art! It so comical. Please do go on. I’m fascinated with you art philosophy.
I specifically said there are artists who could use AI as a tool or inspiration but using AI doesn’t make you an artist. But if you insist then come out and say it…anybody, any child, any MAGA goon, my dog farting, are all equal AI artists so it’s no longer much of an achievement except for the programmers.
The more you do with Ai art you watch created in a post process, the more you impart uniqueness to the final manifestation such as projecting it into a space, the more artistic you become and it could be interesting but if it’s app and done…b o r I n g AF.
