Of course I didn't dismiss emergence as a phenomenon. After all, the entire Universe is emergent. A brain emerges from two cells joining. Simply allowing for emergence doesn't imply that complex tools (i.e. machines) the self-aware brains create can also emerge self-awareness nor that we can prove it if they did.
