The final limits on Chinese hegemony are probably in the language and culture itself. Whereas English is a common lingua franca, 2nd language throughout the world it's hard to imagine Chinese taking this over. On top of that computer languages are largely English-based syntax and the limited Roman character set is more conducive to the tasks associated with computing and typing and data sorting as opposed to the 4,000 pictograms of Chinese which don't lend themselves to "alphabetic" sorting. This gives the West a huge cultural advantage in the production of international smash hit movies and music and television which creates a cultural component to hegemony so far. But, we ALL love Chinese food and many goods made there so it's not about hating on China, just potential limiting factors. I think their language is amazing too but it's a completely different model. Who know, maybe we will be able to learn it instantly with a pill or upload some day and it won't matter!
