They truly and tragically have misguided themselves into an absolute ongoing nightmare that can’t be won in the time of information warfare. All they have done at best is make millions of new mortal enemies that will haunt them for decades. And they did it right on their border to people who can infiltrate them easily and cause endless pain and problems. Foolish.
