Why Twitter Will Always Be Irrelevant
I know it seems so important to Twits, those who spend time doom scrolling random tweets, tweeting, liking and responding, etc. I’ve done my share. I can tell you with a great deal of certainty, none of it matters nor has a discernible impact on the real world out there. It’s basically a place that eats up time in a negative way. If you value your time, barely use Twitter.
Essentially Twitter is a big self-service PR machine so in a way it’s like looking at a channel of pure advertising and very little meaningful content. Lots of short-winded opinions and statements, few verified facts. Notable political figures, writers, artists, musicians, TV and radio personalities, business leaders and everyday folks make their daily positions known to other Twits who follow them or related topics. The more you follow, the more of a mishmash you will be served up.
Relevance Is Relative
I will admit it is impossible to exist and be completely irrelevant because everything has some effect on the world, even a blade of grass. So I’d like to qualify the type of relevance here as the kind that can make tangible changes to life in a unique way, especially with respect to digital media. I know for a fact my daughter seeing one Elton John concert was far more relevant than the sum total of her Twitter experiences, which are minimal by…
